Judas’ plotting to betray the Lord; the Lord’s instituting His table; the Lord’s foretelling Peter’s denying the Lord

Verses:Luke 22:1 ~ 22:38
Key Verse:31-32. Simon, Simon, behold, Satan has asked to have you all to sift you as wheat. But I have made petition concerning you that your faith would not fail; and you, once you have turned again, establish your brothers.
Topic:Judas’ plotting to betray the Lord; the Lord’s instituting His table; the Lord’s foretelling Peter’s denying the Lord
Emphasis:Though the Lord clearly knew that He was about to be crucified, He calmly set up His table and strengthened Peter. He made petition concerning the saints that their faith would not fail. This shows that the Lord poured out His life and in the meantime He took care of those weak disciples.
Meditate:The Lord lives always to intercede for us before the Father (Hebrews 7:25). Do you and I, just like Peter, need His interceding and strengthening?
Prayer:Praise You Lord for Your facing death so calmly. Strengthen me through Your interceding that I may experience grace in my failures. Make me a believer who also can strengthen others.
Hymn:1111 Gathered at Thy table, Lord
