The Lord performed miracles and taught His disciples

(7/25) |

Verses:Mark 8:1 ~ 8:38
Key Verse:33. But turning around and looking at His disciples, He rebuked Peter and said, Get behind Me, Satan! For you are not setting your mind on the things of God, but on the things of men.
Topic:The Lord performed miracles and taught His disciples
Emphasis:After hearing Jesus’ foretelling of His own death, Peter, in his good intention, “took Him aside and began to rebuke Him”. However, Jesus openly rebuked Peter: “Get behind Me, Satan!” Here we are warned that Satan very often hides himself in our good intentions.
Meditate:In verse 30, Peter spoke “You are the Christ!”, which was revealed to Peter by the Father. Yet right afterwards that, Peter was used by Satan because he was not setting his mind on the things of God. How much we need to pay attention to what we set our mind on.
Prayer:Thank the Lord for showing me Satan’s subtlety. May the Lord preserve me that I would constantly set my mind on “the things of God”, “things which are above” (Colossians 3:2) and “the mind which is also in Christ Jesus” (Philippians 2:5).
Hymn:593 All I have in Adam is but sin and death,
