Bridling the tongue in wisdom
Verses:James 3:1 ~ 3:18
Key Verse:17-18. But the wisdom from above is first pure, then peaceable, forbearing, compliant, full of mercy and good fruit, impartial, without hypocrisy. And the fruit of righteousness is sown in peace by those who make peace.
Topic:Bridling the tongue in wisdom
Emphasis:“Bridling the tongue” is a main characteristic of mature believers. When believers are filled with the wisdom from above, spontaneously the fruit of righteousness would be produced. “For out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks.” (Matthew 12:34) Jesus taught the disciples the same thing.
Meditate: Why does it say “the fruit of righteousness”, instead of “behavior of righteousness”?
Prayer:Lord, grant me “the wisdom from above,” that I may “set my mind on the things which are above.”(Colossians 3:2)
