In resurrection prepare the disciples to be sent

(11/24) |

Verses:John 20:19 ~ 20:31
Key Verse:21-22. Then Jesus said to them again, Peace be to you; as the Father has sent Me, I also send you. And when He had said this, He breathed into them and said to them, Receive the Holy Spirit.
Topic:In resurrection prepare the disciples to be sent
Emphasis:What Jesus breathed into them was the promised Holy Spirit (7:39; 14:16-17,26; 15:26; 16:7-8,13), the coming Comforter. In Acts 1:5, “you shall be baptized in the Holy Spirit” is different from “Receive the Holy Spirit” mentioned here. In Acts 1:5, the baptism is external, while John refers to what happens internally.
Meditate:Jesus was begotten in her (Mary) of the Holy Spirit (Matt 1:20b). When He was baptized, the Spirit of God descending like a dove and came upon Him (Matt 3:16). The disciples also first received the Holy Spirit, and then were baptized in the Holy Spirit. Compare their similarity.
Prayer:Thank You Lord, for sending the Holy Spirit into me, so that I can be ready to be sent by You.
