God’s Discipline

(7/13) |

Verses:Hebrews 12:1 ~ 12:15
Key Verse:1-2. Therefore let us also, having so great a cloud of witnesses surrounding us, put away every encumbrance and the sin which so easily entangles us and run with endurance the race which is set before us, Looking away unto Jesus, the Author and Perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down on the right hand of the throne of God.
Topic:God’s Discipline
Emphasis:In the Old Testament, it is mentioned many times, “Be holy, for I am holy,”(Leviticus 11:44,19:2,20:7) Here it is said, ”the Father of spirits…, for what is profitable that we might partake of His holiness.” Here it is clear that God disciplines us in hope of that we may partake of His holiness.
Meditate:No one loves to be disciplined. However, sin dwells within us ever since the fall of man, so none of us are able to fulfill God’s standard in either concept or behavior. We need to be disciplined for our sake, and then we may produce the fruit of the Holy Spirit.
Prayer:Thank You, Lord, for being the Author and Perfecter of my faith. You use everything to discipline me and perfect me. Sometimes I feel my feet are paralyzed and my hands hang down. But please remind me to look away unto Jesus.
Hymn:1206 There’s a race for us to run—Hallelujah
